From The Lens Of 2022
“We haffi give thanks like wi really supposed to, be thankful!”
Yep! I’m listening to Toast by Koffee while writing this.
It’s that time of the year when I take a moment to review how the year went for me.
Time is running at breakneck speed, so you must appreciate every moment you have.
As Tracy Kennedy writes on Lifehack:
The only way to keep up with the pace of life is to stop. To hop off the treadmill. To reflect on what’s working and what’s not.
2022 taught me to let go and take things one day at a time. I stopped worrying too much about the future which is full of uncertainties and I decided to just take it a step at a time because the future will eventually come. This mindset freed me from getting overwhelmed with the uncertainties of life and I think it’s something you can try too.
Hey, I ain’t worried ‘bout it (oh no)
Don’t you worry ‘bout it (oh no)
I won’t lose sleep over it (oh no)
Don’t you lose sleep over it (oh no)
We gon’ be alright!
It has been an action-packed year filled with a lot of self-development for me. I was able to accomplish almost all of the things I set to do this year and I’m super grateful for life.
I’ve been channelling my energy into personal development this year and in fact, I am still working on that. I think it’s an unending challenge to see what you can become.
I went on many adventures, helped 700+ people get started in tech, started living a healthy lifestyle, creating a morning ritual, invested, met amazing people, etc…the list goes on and on. I did so many things I cannot list them all.
I also grew in my field of work and pushed myself to do more than I thought I could. I will push even harder in the coming year.
As they say, “All work and no play…”
When I was not busy torturing data, I spent time sharpening my subpar Kizomba dance moves — hopefully, I become the kizomba king in the coming year.
But hey! moving away from the fun…It wasn’t all smiles though.
Yep! there were times things didn’t go as planned. What did I do? Well, I followed Dory’s advice(Dory from Finding Nemo)
just keep swimming,
just keep swimming,
just keep swimming swimming swimming!
Above all else, I learnt that the major key to my better future is ME. Nobody else but me.
You can have more than you’ve gotten because you can become more than you are.
If you want to have above-average stuff, then you need to become an above-average individual. You cannot be looking for an above-average job with above-average pay without becoming an above-average person. It doesn’t work like that! You might as well make a cake with cement.
For this reason, I’ll be learning to work harder on myself in the coming year and I think you should too. I’ll continue exploring more than I ever did in the past year and keep trying new things. I have a really tall list of things I plan to do in 2023.
Let me give you a sneak peek into what I’ll be doing in the coming year — I’ll be learning how to play the guitar(El Cliff) and how to dance to afrobeat (dance god Cliff).
For the things that prevented me from accomplishing some of my goals in the past year, I’ve told myself to put the brakes on; otherwise, I’ll make the same mistakes I made.
The big question I want you to ask yourself as we prepare to start a new year is, “What am I becoming?”
“What am I becoming?”
Ask yourself this and always remember to learn to work harder on yourself than you do on your job!
“Blessings all pon mi life and mi thank God for di journey…” Oh yes yes! I’m still listening to Toast by Koffee
I hope you enjoyed this read. Thanks for your time.
